Aunty Peggy's House growing up...
Walking into Peg's house when we were kids.... The door was revolving with youngsters and neighbors comin' and goin'. The music was on!, Supper was on. The windows were wide open, the doors were wide open and Peg was wondering why her hydro bill was up that month!
Lots of laughter and good old Newfoundland hospitality! There was alway a pot of soup on the stove, homemade bread in the oven and enough food for everyone.
Peg and Jim hosted my wedding at their house as my parents had recently moved to N.S.
I remember getting ready for my wedding day at Pegs house. I was the only one dressed and ready for the photographers photo shoot. As he snapped pictures, my aunt Peggy was running by with just her slip on and laughing at all the confusion as everyone was getting ready.! It was so funny! My sister Debbie, who was my maid of honor was in the basement helping the men get dressed...Lucky her!
Aunt Peggy was always an inspiration and mentor to me as a nurse and a woman. She was a great source of knowledge in nursing and in life skills. She gave me great advice as a newly wed, young woman and supported me while trying to make decisions with life.
Peg and Jim always took the time to visit us wherever we lived in Canada. They came to BC, and Ontario to reconnect with our family after there winters in Arizona. We were also so fortunate to be able to spend a Christmas with them in Arizona one winter, and saw Peg and Jim frequently during our return visits to Newfoundland.
Aunt Peggy Loved Life! She loved her Newfoundland life, and her Arizona Life. She must have loved confusion too, because that was Pegs House when you went there!. She loved people and animals, She loved photography and was good at it! She loved to cook, and like the rest of her Newfie family she loved to eat...a true blue Newfoundlander and proud of it. But most of all Peg Loved her family.
Wayne and I are so glad to have had her in our lives and so fortunate that she made time for us and she treated us like we were special, and treated our dogs like they were special too. She had a kind, generous and adventurious heart!. She lived her life to the fullest and happiest of her choosing..... A Life Well spent!
