Obituary for Mabel Hillier

It is with great sadness the family of Mabel Hillier announce her passing at Lakeside Homes, Gander on September 10th, 2019.
Predeceased by her husband Jack and baby boy Ross.
Left to mourn with loving memories are her sons John Hillier (Karen) of Elliott Lake, ON; Paul Hillier (Mary) of Doha, Qatar; daughters Jacqueline Menchenton (William) of Bedford, NS; Linda Delaney (Ron) of Casselman, ON; Ruth Matthews (Dudley) of Gander, sister Gladys Hooper of Gander, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Family will be accepting friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home on Friday, September 13th from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. and Saturday, September 14th from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 15th at 2:00 P.M. from St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral with Rev. Jim Beaton Officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully accepted or Donations in Mabel’s memory may be made to St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral or a Charity of one’s choice.
Mabel was born in Norris Arm North on April 29th , 1927 to Alfred and Nina Beaton.
Upon finishing school in Norris Arm, Mabel went to work in Gander where she met her husband Jack. Together they raised 5 children. Mabel was a long time resident of Gander and attended St. Martin’s Anglican Church where she crocheted, knitted many, many wares such as her sweaters, hats, mittens and doilies for the church sales.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who provided comfort and support especially the excellent care received at Special Care at Lakeside Home, Gander.
