Obituary for Bert Faulkner

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bert Faulkner announce his passing at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre on Monday May 15th, 2017 at the age of 84 years. He leaves to mourn with fond loving memories his loving wife of 62 years Muriel (nee: Oates); Sons Wayne (Renee) of BC, Dion (Christine) of Gander, his grandsons who were the center of his universe Jamie (Erin), Brandon and Devon; nephew Randy Strickland, nieces Gladys (Red) Gosse, Linda (Gerry) Snow, Cynthia (Don) Burt. He was predeceased by his parents James and Gertrude Faulkner, brother Robert Faulkner and sister Gladys Strickland.

Bert was born in Bonavista on August 1st 1932 to the late James and Gertrude Faulkner. Bert moved to Gander with his family when he was 12 years old. Bert started working with the airlines in 1952 and continued to work at the airport with variety of companies until his retirement from Allied Aviation after 30 years of service in 1998. Bert enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he always had a joke or story to tell.

Very important to Bert were his grandchildren. He was always so proud of the three of them. He loved to watch Brandon and Devon play hockey. He loved to cook dough for Devon, and himself of course. He was always interested from Brandon what was on sale at Canadian tire. They were his life and reason for living.

There was a group who Bert looked forward to meeting with every week to socialize. They were all great friends and really enjoyed each others company; Beulah Skiffington, Lilly warford and Evelyn Sexton.

Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander with visitation 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Wednesday May 17th . Funeral service Thursday May 18th at 2:00 pm at the Salvation Army Citadel, Gander. Interment All Saints Cemetery .
In lieu of flowers donations in Bert's memory can be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic .
